General Questions
Where are the Rules and Guidelines?
They are in the Announcements forum. It is expected that all members have read the Rules and Guidelines before posting.
Where can I download JPOP Songs and Videos?
You can try any one of the many file sharing programs out there. Some of the more popular ones include Kazaa Lite, WinMX, and Soulseek. Please note that we do not support, condone nor defend the use of any of these file-sharing programs.

Why was a topic locked/deleted?
Topics are locked or deleted if we feel the original topic or enough of the posts within are not in accordance with our Rules and Guidelines. If it is not obvious to you why a topic was locked or deleted, please contact a moderator. They would be happy to let you know the circumstances behind a topic lock or deletion.
What happens to old topics?
To increase the speed and efficiency of the message board, topics that are not replied to for a certain period of time are automatically removed. Each forum is set differently based on the amount of activity.

What are the user ranks?
User ranks are based solely on post count, and are for entertainment purposes only. Making pointless posts just to increase one's post count is looked down upon by the community. The scale is as follows: 0-10 posts: newBie. 10-99 posts: Associate. 100-299 posts: Member. 300-599 posts: Senior Member. 600-999 posts: Charter Member. 1000+ posts: Elite Member.

Questions about locked/deleted topics
Why are topics locked or deleted?
Topics are locked or deleted if we feel the original topic or enough of the posts within are not in accordance with our Rules and Guidelines.
Why was a particular topic deleted?
If you are not sure why a topic was locked or deleted, please contact a moderator. It's ok to ask. But do so through Private Messaging, not by posting a message in the forums. Any such topics found in the forums will be locked.

Don't agree with how the forums are run?
We welcome suggestions. Simply private message a moderator with your comments and suggestions. Complaints posted in the forums will be deleted.

Login and Registration Issues
Why can't I login?
Have you registered? Seriously, you must register in order to login. If you have registered, have you activated your account? This is done through the activation link included in your welcome e-mail. If you used an incorrect e-mail address, then you won't be able to receive this e-mail nor activate your account. If this is the case, please reregister with a working e-mail address. Lastly, some specialized browsers seem to have trouble logging in. Try logging in with a standard browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape to determine if it is a problem with the browser being used.

Why do I need to register at all?
You don't have to. You can view all messages without registering. By registering, you gain the ability to post messages, vote in polls, participate in the conversations, etc.
Why do I get logged off automatically?
If you do not check the Log me in automatically box when you login the board will only keep you logged in for a preset time. This prevents misuse of your account by anyone else. To stay logged in check the box during login. This is not recommended if you access the board from a shared computer (e.g. library, internet cafe, university cluster, etc.).
How do I prevent my username appearing in the online user listings?
In your profile you will find an option Hide your online status, if you switch this on you'll only appear to board administrators or to yourself. You will be counted as a hidden user.

I've lost my password!
Don't panic! While your password cannot be retrieved it can be reset. To do this go to the login page and click I've forgotten my password, follow the instructions and you should be back online in no time

User Preferences and settings
How do I change my settings?
All your settings (if you are registered) are stored in the database. To alter them click the Profile link shown at the top of pages. This will allow you to change all your settings
Back to top
The times are not correct!
If you are a registered user, you will be able to adjust the time to accurately reflect your own local time through your Profile. The easiest way is to fiddle with the TimeZone setting in your Profile until the times of the most recent posts accurately reflect your local time. For your reference, the current time is also displayed on the main page, on top of the forums listing.

How do I show an image below my username?
These images are called Avatars, and they are set through your Profile (at the bottom of the page). You can select either an image from the Avatar gallery, or link to your own Avatar. Please note that there is a size limit of 80x80 pixels and 6 Kilobytes for all linked avatars, and that attempting to link to avatars hosted on free website providers such as Geocities and Fortunecity generally does not work. This is because they block such types of hotlinking.
Why are there size limits for avatars?
Size limits for avatars are in place to ensure a pleasant page browsing experience for all visitors. Attempts to circumvent the avatar file-checking routine will result in avatar capability being disabled for the offending member.
Are there other pre-made avatars besides the ones in the avatar gallery?
Yes, there are. Some members have created a much larger collection of avatars, and they are available in the Karaoke Bar forum (at the top of the topic listing). You may also make avatar requests in that particular topic.
Where can I upload my own avatar?
More than likely, your ISP has given you webspace which you can use for this purpose. Find out from your ISP how you upload files to your webspace, and what your web address is. If you don't have ISP webspace, you can try a free webhost such as RanchoWeb. However, most popular, free webhosts such as Geocities and Fortunecity will not allow you to hotlink images. If all else fails, perhaps a member you know will host your avatar for you on their webspace.

Posting Issues
Can I edit or delete my posts?
You are able to delete your posts if no one has yet replied after you. This is done by clicking the X button associated with your post. You may edit your posts at any time by clicking the Edit button associated with your post. If someone has already replied to the post you will find a small piece of text output below the post (when you return to the topic) that this lists the number of times you edited it. This will not appear if you edit your post when no one has yet added a reply.
How do I create a poll?
Creating a poll is easy, when you post a new topic, you should see an Add Poll form below the main posting box. You should enter a title for the poll and then at least two options. To set an option, type in the poll question and click the Add option button. You can also set a time limit for the poll - 0 is an infinite poll. The limit of options you can list is 10.
Can I edit a poll?
As with posts, polls can only be edited by the original poster. A poll is edited the same way you would edit a normal post, and the existing poll options can only be changed if no one has yet voted. This is to prevent people rigging polls by changing options mid-way through a poll.

Private Messaging
What happens when my inbox is full?
You will still be able to receive messages. If you receive a new message when your inbox is full, the oldest message in your inbox will be removed to accomodate the new message.
What's the difference between outbox and sentbox?
Messages in the outbox are ones that you have sent, but have not yet been read by the recipient. You may edit private messages while they are still in the outbox. Messages in your sentbox are messages you sent that have been read by the recipient.
